North Shore Police are describing the unprovoked, vicious assault of a 39 year old Iranian national last night, as extreme violence.

Detective Steve PIVAC of the North Shore CIB says police went to the business premises of All Go Kebab in Wairau Road, Glenfield, at 11.00pm last night, Thursday 28 August 2008.

On arrival Police found the sole male owner-operator inside the premises with severe facial wounds. The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance.

"The injuries suffered by this man are horrific. Extreme violence has been used. It is among the worst beatings that I have seen for a long time," he said.

"The victim is in intensive care in Auckland Hospital. He is in a coma. His condition is stable. Urgent facial surgery will be necessary however."

"The victim has described his attackers at two males. There is no detailed description of them. Security tapes are being accessed. A forensic team is now carrying out an analysis of the scene."

"The All Go Kebab premise is located next to Liquor Land in Wairau Road. We are appealing to all members of the public who were in this locality last night to contact us," Detective Pivac said.
