Waikato Serious crash Unit investigators were back out at the scene today of a collision that claimed the lives of three people overnight at Rangiriri.
Senior Sergeant Peter Simpson of Huntly Police said the crash happened about 8.30pm on Glenn Murray Rd.
"Initial indications are that a Toyota van being driven by a 47-year-old woman was struck by a red Honda Civic car that lost control on a moderate bend.
"Two 20-year-old males in the car and the woman driving the van all died in the crash," he said.
Police are currently working to finalise the identification and notification process and it is expected all three names will be released tomorrow.
Mr Simpson urged people to take care on the roads particularly at this time of heavy rains and strong winds.
"It's that little bit less pressure on the right pedal that may make the difference between arriving just a little bit later or not arriving at all," he said.
