"The offender has then shot the dairy owner at close range while she was in the process of activating a hidden alarm."

"After firing at the victim from a distance of less than 1.5 metres the offender has run from the dairy. He has left the scene in a waiting vehicle driven by a second person. The gender of driver is not known."

"The weapon used by the offender is a long barrelled firearm and is similar in appearance to an air rifle or a .22 rifle. It has a regular stock wooden frame."

"Police have released the following description of the offender, and the vehicle involved," he said.

The vehicle is described as

"This attempted robbery was cold and callous. The gun was fired at close range and without warning. Such an act by this offender is of real concern."

"The outcome could have been much different from what has taken place."

"This offender must be caught quickly to prevent him from carrying out any further crimes."

"The female victim received wounds to her upper left arm. She has being transported to hospital where she is receiving medical attention. The victims injuries are not considered to be life threatening. She is being comforted by family."

"Police are seeking information from any member of the public who may have seen a light blue coloured vehicle leaving the nearby area on Titirangi Road Or West Coast Road, New Lynn at about 3.00pm," Detective Steve Norris said.
