At approximately 4pm this afternoon two men appearing on burglary charges escaped from Police at the Lower Hutt District Court.
Police are currently carrying out enquiries to find the two men who overpowered a Police prisoner escort officer. No injuries occurred.
Details of the two prisoners are unable to be released at this stage.
Police are also conducting enquiries at the Lower Hutt District Court to establish how the two men managed to escape.
This incident is unrelated to the earlier capture of a suspect for the bank robbery in Petone.
