1 min read

Henderson Police have located a body in dense bush in Titirangi.

Today's discovery by Police was made during a renewed search to locate a 39 year old female who has not been seen in the locality since early January.

Six teams of search and rescue personnel endured high temperatures and numerous wasp nests in what was a difficult and demanding day long search in extremely dense bush and scrub. The search area covered a 3-4 km radius.

The teams began their grid search at 7.30am this morning and it was late afternoon [5.00pm] when the body was discovered. The 40 male and female searchers were comprised of Police, Air Force and civilian personnel.

The area where the body was found was outside the sector of rugged bush that was previously canvassed. The body has not yet been formally identified.

Police believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding today's discovery. A forensic team will go to the scene tomorrow to determine the full circumstances of the finding and a post mortem will be carried out at the earliest opportunity.

Police say they will release further information later tomorrow afternoon.
