Police have recommenced a search this morning in the Dannevirke area for missing man William Kerry Power.
Mr Power was last seen by a family member at his Dannevirke home around 10pm on Tuesday 9 July.
"Police currently have two SAR teams made up of staff from Palmerston North, Whanganui, and Levin searching the wider area around Mr Power's property. A Police SAR dog is also assisting the teams with their extensive ground search," says Tararua Senior Sergeant Nathan Davis.
While there are heavy rain warnings for Dannevirke the weather appears to be holding out at this stage.
"We have also had some members of the public contact us about wanting to help with the search, and we thank them for their support but its best the qualified Police SAR teams carry out the search."
Police are continuing to make enquiries with Mr Power's family and friends to ascertain his movements leading up to his disappearance.
"We strongly encourage anyone that has seen Mr Power to contact Police immediately," says Senior Sergeant Davis.
Mr Power is described as nearly 5'9 in height, of medium build, and fair skin with brown hair and eyes.
He left his house on foot and is believed to be wearing black gumboots, black trousers with white stripes, a khaki green polar fleece top, and a black beanie.
Anyone with any information as to the current whereabouts of Mr Power, or who may have seen him is asked to call the Dannevirke Police on (06) 374 4500 as soon as possible.
