A patched Mongrel Mob member who is facing firearms-related charges is being sought by Rotorua Police for breaching his bail conditions.
A loaded firearm was located under the seat of a vehicle in which 31-year-old Brian Michael Whare was a passenger in February this year.
He is currently charged with possessing a firearm without a licence and two counts of unlawfully carrying a firearm.
A warrant for his arrest was issued after he failed to appear in court earlier this month.
Brian Whare, who also uses the surnames Horne and De Berry, is Maori, approximately 177cm tall with a medium, athletic build. He has a number of tattoos including the letters A and T across the front of his neck, a Playboy bunny on his neck, a Swastika cross on his left hand and a bangle tattoo and Maori design on his left wrist.
He has a wide circle of associates within the Rotorua area as well as links to Pukehina. He is also known to drive a black Nissan Maxima.
Police strongly suspect that associates may be assisting Whare and warn that those individuals also risk being prosecuted if found to be actively helping him to evade arrest.
The public are advised not to approach Brian Whare but to report any sightings to police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
