Name released in Waikuku crash

Christchurch Police have released the name of the man killed in a crash near Waikuku on Friday afternoon.

He was Timothy Grant Pickering, aged 41, of Martinborough.

Mr Pickering was the driver of a Chevrolet Blazer sport utility vehicle which rolled after clipping another vehicle during an overtaking manoeuvre.

The crash occurred on Gressons Road, about five kilometres west of State Highway One, at around 2.45pm on Friday [24 May].

Two girls, aged 5 and 7, daughters of the deceased, were taken to hospital with moderate injuries following the crash. They remain in hospital in a comfortable condition.

Enquiries into the crash are continuing.
