Fatal shed fire investigated

West Coast Police and the Fire Service are investigating the cause of a fire in a shed at Kaniere, south of Hokitika overnight.

Police have confirmed one person died in the fire. The body is yet to be recovered and formally identified.

The fire broke out about 4.20am today.

At this stage no further information on the cause of the fire or the name of the deceased is available.
