Crash driver sought by Police arrested

Christchurch Police have arrested the man they were seeking in relation to a crash at Leeston earlier this month.

Joel Allan Linwood, aged 23, was arrested without incident at a Hornby address shortly before 10.00 this morning [Wednesday 22 May].

He will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow morning in relation to the unlawful taking of a vehicle from a Dallington address early on the morning of Tuesday 7 May.

Detective Sergeant Tania Jellyman of the Christchurch volume crime unit says further charges are expected to be laid over the Leeston crash, in which two passengers in the stolen vehicle were injured, and other offences.

She says Linwood was located as a result of ongoing investigations. "We would also like to thank those members of the public who contacted us with information and sightings, which helped in our efforts to locate this offender."
