Car driven off wharf: update 2

Police have confirmed that the body of a woman has been recovered from inside a vehicle driven off Panmure wharf about 8.30pm yesterday (17 April).

The Police Dive Squad and Maritime Unit were deployed to the scene this morning and recovered the woman’s body. Police believe at this stage that she was the only occupant.

The body was transported to Auckland Hospital for a post mortem examination.

The process of identification and notification of the next of kin is ongoing. Police will release the woman’s identity once this process is completed.

No one else is being sought in relation to this matter.
