A man arrested by Christchurch Police on Saturday will appear in court tomorrow on methamphetamine-related charges.
Police arrested a 50-year old man in the early hours of Saturday [16 March] and charged him with Possession of Methamphetamine for Supply.
The man has been remanded in custody to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday [18 March].
Detective Sergeant Greg Cottam of the Christchurch Organised Crime Unit says the arrest follows an operation targeting methamphetamine dealers who source methamphetamine from the North Island and bring this to Canterbury.
He says Police located methamphetamine with a street value of $14,000 on the man.
"Police will continue to target methamphetamine dealers to disrupt the drug trade," he says. "This trade has a significant impact on society with crimes such as burglaries being committed to fund the habits of methamphetamine users."
No-one else is being sought in connection with this specific operation, Detective Sergeant Cottam says.
