Christchurch Police have released the name of the motorcyclist who died after coming off his motorcycle near Dunsandel yesterday.
He was Charles Herbert Munslow, aged 72, of Rangiora.
Initial investigations indicate that Mr Munslow failed to take a moderate right-hand bend over a railway crossing, losing control of the motorcycle and hitting a guardrail. Police say speed is likely to have been a contributing factor. No other vehicles were involved.
The incident occurred at the railway crossing on State Highway 1 near Selwyn Lake Road, at approximately 9.00am on Sunday [17 February].
