Seven search teams have spent a third day searching for missing tramper Alistair Levy in Kahurangi National Park and have found no trace of him.
Search coordinator Sergeant Mike Fitzsimons said Police held grave concerns for Mr Levy’s welfare given the time that had elapsed since he was last heard from and the challenging terrain in the area.
Searchers will tonight have completed their taskings in all of the areas Mr Levy is believed to have been in or near. All searchers will be brought in from the field tonight.
Sergeant Fitzsimons said a team of 13 cavers who have been in communication with Police will be in the Bulmer area tomorrow.
“They will be in touch if they come across anything of interest.”
A further aerial search is planned for tomorrow, after which options will be reassessed.
