Dunedin Police Make Arrest in Relation to Attack

Dunedin Police have arrested a 21-year-old Dunedin man in relation to an alleged attack on a woman at her Duncan Street home yesterday.

The man faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Dunedin District Court today. Further serious charges are also likely.

Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the alleged attack.

Police and ESR are continuing to examine the scene at the woman's home. This is expected to take a further two days to complete.

Police have yet to speak again with the victim. She remains in Dunedin Hospital where she is recovering from surgery she underwent yesterday.

There are still inquiries to complete in relation to the incident. Police thank members of the public who have provided information.

Given that the matter is now before the Court, Police are unable to comment further at this time.
