Christchurch Police advise the search for missing whitebaiter Victor Boraman will continue later today.
Sergeant Ryan O'Rourke, search coordinator, says further shoreline searches will be undertaken this afternoon utilising LandSAR volunteers from the Rakaia and Ellesmere groups.
Approximately 10 LandSAR volunteers will be involved on both the north and south sides of the river.
They will again use quad bikes to search along the beach at low tide, starting from around 5.30pm.
Sergeant O'Rourke says conditions in the area today are poor, with low cloud and poor visibility.
The 21-year old was swept into the sea on Sunday night [7 October] while whitebaiting with friends at the mouth of the Rakaia River.
Sergeant O'Rourke says conditions at the time were rough, with strong winds and large waves.
No trace of Mr Boraman has been found since he was seen in the water by a Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew at about 8.00pm on Sunday night. The helicopter was unable to effect a rescue due to the difficult conditions.
