Teams of search and rescue volunteers and Police are today out searching areas of interest in the investigation into the disappearance of 48 year old Ann Sheridan.

Miss Sheridan was reported missing on Monday. Her car and wallet were located at her home and her bank accounts have not been touched.

Police yesterday interviewed family and numerous friends and completed a search of her home.

Senior Sergeant Grant Andrews said a number of recurring themes came out of those interviews which have led to the identification of today's search areas.

He said 32 people were in the field this morning, broken into four teams. Teams are currently grid searching the Wakapuaka Cemetery and surrounding bush. They will then move towards the Centre of New Zealand.

The search will then extend to the Grampians and the Brook area.

Senior Sergeant Andrews said a specialist search dog was arriving in Nelson this afternoon and would join the team in the field.

He said Police held grave concerns for Ann Sheridan's safety and would like to speak with anyone who has had contact with her, or who thinks they may have seen her, since Saturday.
