Police hunting Murray Toleafoa, the man who fired a shot at Police early on Friday morning, believe he could have been staying in motels around the Auckland area over the past few days.
A Police alert was sent to moteliers on Friday but today Detective Inspector Scott Beard of the Auckland City Police said it was important that they be reminded there is an armed gunman on the run and to remain vigilant when taking bookings.
"Staff worked long hours over the weekend and the information gathered by them suggests Mr Toleafoa is hiding out with associates in either motels or private addresses.
"For the sake of the safety of moteliers, their families and law-abiding guests, we are reiterating our appeal to Mr Toleafoa to hand himself in to Police and end this phase of the investigation safely."
Information about Murray Toleafoa's whereabouts should go to 111 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
