New staff allocated to Southern District in second wave

1 min read

The second tranche of staffing allocations, part of the 2007/08 budget, brings 25 new staff to Southern District.

Of these new staff 10 will be used to bolster the District's community approaches to crime. These will be in the form of smaller community teams focussing on high risk individuals and neighbourhoods.

A further 6 staff have been allocated to road policing. Key areas focussed on will be alcohol and speed, with specific emphasis on rural arterial roads.

The balance of staff have been allocated taking into account factors such as population, crime rates, geography, and key District priorities identified in the strategic planning process. Key priorities include alcohol misuse, family violence and youth offending and victimisation.
