Four men are helping Auckland City Police with inquiries this afternoon after an incident at the Rainbow Hotel on Nelson St where a man, believed to be Korean, was apparently detained against his will.
Police received an emergency call from staff at the Korean Consulate who had had a call shortly after 1.45pm from someone who claimed a man had been kidnapped and was at the hotel.
On attending the hotel, Police went to a room where a man was suffering some head injuries while in the company of four others.
The injured man, whose injuries are not life-threatening, is in Auckland Hospital. The other four are at Auckland Central Police Station.
It's not known yet whether the injured man was taken to the hotel against his will or if he was already at the hotel when detained against his will.
One room at the hotel has been secured by Police as a crime scene. Police are in the process of contacting Korean interpreters to assist with interviews.
