Issues facing young people in Canterbury today

1 min read

Police and year 9 pupils of St Bedes College have been working together looking at issues they believe face young people today.

In term one Senior Sergeant John Robinson, Youth Services, spoke to a group about the role of police in society and the boys came up with issues they felt were relevant to them.

"Education happens in the community," says John Robinson. The boys have researched their topics and presented their findings to parents, teachers, people who assisted them and police.

The topics included homelessness, boy racers, global warming, obesity, and smoking.

Senior Sergeant Robinson says the young men's presentations were very impressive.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to remind ourselves that despite all the issues facing our young people there is still a lot of hope!"
