Rodney Police Release Identikit Image

1 min read

Rodney CIB have just released an identikit image of the man whom they believe can help them with their enquiries into the recent attempted abduction of a 10 year old girl in the coastal suburb of Stanmore Bay, on Whangaparaoa Peninsula.

Detective Sergeant Stan BROWN says the identikit is the result of a detailed description given to Police by the young female victim. "Katie" demonstrated enormous courage during the incident, and her astute observation has encouraged police investigators to release an identikit image of the offender.

"The image is profiled tonight on the popular television programme Police10-7."

"The victim's description of the wanted vehicle is of particular value to Police.

An appeal for sightings of the black 4 x 4 wheel drive vehicle has however had a decidedly disappointing response from the public. Only two calls have been received from the public nominating black 4 x 4 wheel drive vehicles like the one we are seeking."

"Two eliminating features about this vehicle make it conspicuous to all drivers. There is the distinctive red interior which is an unusual tone for any 4 x 4 wheel drive vehicle. There is a spare tyre mounted on the rear of the vehicle. It is attached on the right side. There is a black canvas like cover for protection. Someone knows this vehicle. They will know its regular driver. We would like this driver to call us, so our enquiry can be advanced quickly," Mr. BROWN said.

"The victim has also told us that she saw strips of cloth already cut up inside the vehicle. This is concerning and it confirms the sinister criminal intent linked to this attempted abduction. This offender needs to be found. We want him in custody."
