1 min read

The man killed after being hit by a bus in Dominion Rd this morning was 53 year-old Rongfa Jiang, a Chinese national who had been living with a family member in Mt Eden for the past few months.

Mr Jiang was seriously injured after being hit by a Stagecoach bus not far from his son's home at 7.30 this morning.

Senior Constable Bryan Hensley of the Auckland City District Serious Crash Unit said Police are unclear about details of the fatal incident as many witnesses have yet to be located and/or spoken to.

"We've got the names and contact details of some witnesses, but we've yet to speak with them to get statements," Mr Hensley said.

"We'll be at the scene of the crash tomorrow morning from about 7.20 in an effort to locate other pedestrians, motorists or bus passengers who might have seen the crash or events leading up to it."

Mr Jiang was hit by the bus on Dominion Rd, about 20 metres south of St Albans Ave on the city-bound side at 7.30 this morning. He died later in hospital. His body will undergo a post-mortem examination tomorrow.

The driver of the bus involved has been identified but has not yet made a statement to Police about the incident.
