A house fire in Upper Riccarton, Christchurch, this morning is believed to have claimed several lives. Police will not be specific as to the number yet.
Fire Service were called at 7.35am to a house in Puriri Street and subsequently fire officers discovered several bodies. The house has been secured by Fire Service and a Police inquiry is underway
DSS John Rae will head the inquiry.
I hope to have more information as soon as possible but likley to be around 10.30am
