Police have identified the two male drivers who died in a double fatality in the Dome Valley on State Highway One, at about 5.45am this morning, Tuesday 13 March 2007.
Those killed in the crash were:
RUDOLPH/ Thomas Hayden
Age - 21 years.
Resident of Whangarei
RAE / Aaron David
Age - 35 years.
Resident of Wellsford.
Police say both the deceased were the sole occupants of their vehicles. The incident happened when a north bound Toyota Camry saloon and a south bound Toyota Utility, crashed head-on, about five kilometres north of Warkworth in the Dome Valley.
State Highway One was closed for almost three hours and diversions were in place. The Serious Crash Unit is investigating and police are eager to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area at the time or who may have witnessed the double fatality.
