1 min read

A 25-year-old Auckland man has been arrested and will appear in the North Shore District Court today, Wednesday 3 August, charged with burglary.

An amount of ammunition was stolen from a New Zealand Defence Force depot at Chatswood, North Shore, over the weekend. The burglary was reported to police on Monday and extensive inquiries have been made by police since that time.

Detective Sergeant James Watson, North Shore CIB, said officers, supported by the Armed Offenders Squad as a precautionary measure, executed a search warrant at a Glenfield address late yesterday and a man was arrested.

Police believe they have recovered most of the ammunition, flares and cartridges, although some further inquiries will be made today. No explosives were involved.

Detective Sergeant Watson said it was inappropriate to provide further details as the matter is now before the court.
