Story should read as follows.
Tact and Tenacity by Valerie Redshaw celebrates 60 Years of Women in Policing. It is the first book to tell the full story of women in policing and the struggle to gain the place they proudly occupy today.
Hon Annette King, Minister of Police will launch Tact and Tenacity tonight, February 28, (5pm-7pm) at Parliament's Grand Hall.
The book outlines many human interest stories from the early days when successive politicians and police leaders were reluctant to employ women in significant roles. Redshaw's story of women in the New Zealand Police is one of human endeavour, resourcefulness, long hours spent and a determination to do the job.
Among the guests at tonight's launch will be Margaret Donnelly (nee Holder) from Levin, who was amongst the first intake of women police in 1941.
