Police are keen to speak with the person who used an internet blog site to make alleged threats against Greens MP Sue Bradford.
A spokesperson said the way in which the threat was worded did not appear to constitute a criminal offence.
Police would however like to identify the blog site author to find out his or her intentions. Tracing the author is not straightforward and this process could take some time.
The spokesperson said that Diplomatic Protection Squad staff has been in contact with Ms Bradford's office to discuss the issue.
It's police policy not to comment on the security of any individuals.
