A juvenile male faces a variety of charges following his arrest in Hamilton by detectives investigating the aggravated robbery of a Frankton store earlier this week.

Detective Sergeant Neville Ross of the Hamilton CIB said the arrest followed Police searching several properties in Frankton and Dinsdale yesterday morning.

"The searches were related to the inquiry into armed robbery of a small superette in Frankton early on Tuesday night.

"As a result of this a 16-year-old youth was arrested and appeared before the Hamilton Youth Court yesterday afternoon."

Mr Ross said that as well as being charged with the aggravated robbery the juvenile also faced 11 burglary charges.

"These offences were committed principally over the previous two months in the wider Dinsdale area and we'd like to thank all the members of the public who assisted us in identifying who was responsible.

"He was remanded in secure care to re-appear in the Hamilton Youth Court next week."
