Police are releasing details of a man wanted in relation to a stabbing incident in Palmerston North on Monday (4 April).
The incident occurred around 10.10am outside the Community Probation Service (CPS) centre on Church Street, Palmerston North when the 20-year-old victim was on a break from a rehabilitation programme for offenders at the centre.
Police want to speak to 44-year-old Darryn Toby Hikaka from Foxton, in relation to the incident and are encouraging him to hand himself in.
Police are asking the public to report any sightings of Mr Hikaka but say the public should not approach him.
Mr Hikaka is a male Maori, approximately 171cm tall, and medium build. He has longish hair, a tattoo on the left side of his neck and another to the side of his right eye.
The 20-year-old victim was treated in Palmerston North Hospital for his injuries but has now been released.
