Police are releasing images of two men suspected of being involved in an attempted kidnapping on Saturday in Uruti.
The 22-year-old, female victim was waiting for a friend near the intersection of SH3 and Uruti Road. Between 2.30 and 3pm, a silver Nissan Skyline with tinted windows, which had been travelling south, pulled up and told her to get into the car. When she refused attempts were made to physically get her into the vehicle.
These attempts failed when a truck driver stopped to help the woman and the offenders got back into the Nissan and left.
It is believed there were three men in the vehicle, and Police are today issuing composite images of two of the men.
One is described as dark skinned and skinny with a distinctive tattoo on the left side of his neck. He had straight, short black or dark hair, brown eyes and some facial hair and was wearing jeans and skate-type shoes. The second man is described as Maori of a Pacific Islander with curly, longer hair. He was wearing a white singlet and had a a heavily tattooed arm.
Police want to hear from anyone who knows the identity of these men, or saw these men or the Nissan Skyline anytime on Saturday afternoon.
