1 min read

A man will appear in court next week charged in connection with a ram raid at a service station in Marton.

The raid happened around 2am on Monday morning (31 January) when thieves drove a stolen light truck through a roller door at the rear of the Shell service station on Broadway, Marton and stole cigarettes and tobacco worth around $10,000.

As a result of Police enquiries a search warrant was executed at an address in the town around 9.30 last night, and a 34-year-old local man was arrested without incident. Some cigarettes and tobacco believed stolen during the burglary have been recovered.

The man has been charged with burglary and unlawful taking of a vehicle and will appear at Marton District Court on Wednesday, 9 February.

Police believe at least two people were involved in the burglary so enquiries are continuing.
