Police appeal for information on Hamilton robbery

1 min read

Hamilton Police investigating an aggravated robbery of an industrial supply store are appealing for witnesses as they seek to find those responsible.

Detective Sergeant Dave Grace of the Hamilton CIB said two men entered the Pump and Electrical Services store on Frankton's Lincoln St shortly before 4pm.

"One of the men was armed with what we believe to have been a sawn-off shotgun which he pointed at a staff member and made demands before both left, empty handed.

"The pair ran towards Edgar St where we believe they had a car waiting."

Mr Grace said Police were keeping an open mind in relation to if this latest robbery was linked to earlier incidents in the City including the robbery of a Greenwood St liquor store in which a storeowner was shot.

"The description we have been given of those involved in this afternoon's robbery differs to that of those responsible for the previous incidents."

"The offenders in today's robbery are both described as male Maoris wearing grey hooded sweatshirts."

Mr Grace said the first offender was aged about 35-years-old, of solid build with short hair and wearing glasses while the offender with the firearm was described as being very tall, about 190cm in height and missing two front teeth.

"Those teeth he did have were also described as being in poor condition and he had some facial stubble."

Mr Grace said several people were in the area at the time of the robbery and the enquiry team was keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything untoward or who has information on who was responsible who hadn't yet spoken to Police.

Anyone with any such information is asked to contact Mr Grace at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200. Alternatively information can be left anonymously on the CrimeStoppers crimeline, 0800 555111.
