A man on the run following a series of offending with firearms in the King Country over the past three nights has been captured by Police without incident.
Te Kuiti Sub-Area Manager, Senior Sergeant Rob Van Kalken, said 24-year-old Otorohanga man, Te Rangi TRANGMAR was arrested about 3am at Te Anga.
"A patrol located near the small Waitomo settlement noticed a light on at the rear of the Te Anga Tavern shortly after midnight, confirmation came through that no one should be in there and an assessment was done resulting in a silent cordon being set up around the building.
"About 3am someone was seen coming out of the rear of the building and when approached by armed Police was found to be our offender and he gave himself up without incident."
Mr Van Kalken said this morning's result was the best possible outcome for all concerned and came about in a large part from considerable cooperation received from the public which Police were grateful for.
"The offender was assessed by ambulance staff and found to be in good health, he has been given something to eat and is currently being interviewed by detectives in relation to a variety of offences.
"We're grateful that this matter was able to be resolved without further incident and thank all those who gave us their assistance."
