On Thursday, 8 July, 31-year-old Scott Guy was shot and killed on the driveway of his home in Aorangi Road, Feilding.
Today (Friday, 20 August), Scott's wife Kylee, who is due to give birth to their second son next month, spoke publicly for the first time about Scott's death and made a personal appeal for his killer "to do the right thing and come forward."
At a media conference held in Palmerston North she said: "What they've done is ruined our lives. They've taken a wonderful, beautiful father away from his sons. Hunter is lucky enough to have had time with him but our baby will never, ever meet his daddy, so they just need to do the right thing. It's so wrong what they've done, it's horrible and if they don't [come forward] they're just so gutless. They shouldn't be able to live with themselves for doing something so horrible."
Recalling the last time they spoke; the night before Scott's death, she said: "He cuddled me and told me he loved me. He cuddled me every night; he told me he loved me and that was it."
Kylee described how hands-on Scott was as a father, that he and Hunter did everything together. She said: "In the mornings it's hard, the first thing Hunter asks for is Scotty because in the morning he's always waiting for his truck to come home to run and meet him at the door. It's really hard, it always upsets me but I just tell him that daddy's with us, he's still with us."
She described how her mum Diane Bullock had been her rock since Scott's death, along with Hunter and her unborn child, and that it was too soon for her to make any decisions about her future and whether she would live in Feilding.
She said: "I love Feilding so it will always be my second home but I haven't made that decision yet . . it's just too hard to think about at the moment . . . it's hard enough just dealing with losing the love of my life."
