Scott Guy homicide - renewed appeal

1 min read

It is four weeks today since Scott Guy was shot dead on the driveway of his Feilding home and Police are taking the opportunity to renew their appeal for information.

Scott had got up early on the morning of Thursday, 8 July to milk cows on the family farm. He was found dead at the end of his driveway on Aorangi Road around 7am by a passing stock truck driver.

A homicide inquiry was launched and there are currently 37 officers from around New Zealand working full-time on the investigation.

Detective Inspector Sue Schwalger said: "Police still believe that someone in the local community holds the key and it may be the smallest piece of information that brings a conclusion to this investigation. We have had great support from the community but we need that support to continue.

"I also appeal to the consciences of anyone out there who believes they know who is responsible for this murder, or has information that may be linked to this investigation. Scott's family desperately want answers; they need to know why Scott was killed. If someone is concerned about coming forward they can be assured information will be treated in confidence and Crimestoppers provided an anonymous means of passing on information."

Police still want to hear from:
• Anyone with information about three chocolate labrador puppies missing from Scott Guy's property. The puppies were born on 25 May.
• The drivers of two vehicles seen travelling separately along Aorangi Road towards Campbell Road between 4.30am and 5am on Thursday, 8 July, or anyone with any information about these vehicles or the drivers.
• Anyone with information about the shotgun used to kill Scott which has not yet been recovered. Police also want information about thefts of firearms and ammunition since January 2009 in and around the Feilding area.
