Social networking site may assist search

Auckland Police have joined the recently established Carmen Thomas Facebook Group in an attempt to generate further information about the disappearance of the missing 32 year-old Remuera mother who has not been seen since July 1.

Friends of the Carmen Thomas Group are asked by Police to share any information that may lead to her. Anyone who has information can provide it to Police via the 0800 KEPPEL number, anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via a dedicated e-mail address - whereiscarmen@police.govt.nz

Acting Detective Inspector Mark Benefield says there are dozens of unanswered questions around Carmen's disappearance.

"For instance, we know her Nissan Pulsar car was noticed in residential Dyer St in Hamilton on July 5, but who drove it there?

"Why was cash left in the car, along with an overnight bag and a child's car seat? Whose bag is it?

"We can't answer these questions without help from people who know something about what's happened to Carmen in the past three weeks or so."

Mr Benefield says the Police investigation team has completed a search of her Ngaphui St, Remuera, home and they have discovered some documents that may assist the investigation in the long term, but nothing was discovered that immediately progressed the hunt for Carmen.
