A homicide inquiry has commenced into the death of Scott Guy after post mortem results confirmed he suffered gunshot wounds. The official cause of death is a matter for the Coroner and will be determined in due course.
Police are continuing to examine the scene in Aorangi Road where Scott Guy was found by a member of the public on Thursday morning around 7am.
A team of 20 police staff are investigating the death now determined as a homicide. The investigation team have been joined by forensic teams. An area enquiry phase is ongoing.
Scott was found on the driveway of his home in Aorangi Road which is on a family farm. It is believed that on Thursday he got up early in the morning to go to work on the farm.
Detective Inspector Sue Schwalger said: "Scott's death has devastated his family and rocked a close-knit community. We know the family and community have a lot of questions that Police are not in a position to answer at this stage, however I want to give reassurance that Police are doing everything possible to find out how and why Scott was killed.
"Police are in the very early stages of the investigation and Police believe that the community can play a significant role. Police would like to hear about any suspicious behaviour in the area in the days leading up to Scott's death and any information that might be relevant to the investigation."
