Kaikohe Police seek information on hit and run

Kaikohe Police are seeking witnesses to a hit and run incident in the town on Sunday night (June 27).

A 24-year-old man is believed to have been hit by a car on Williams Avenue sometime after 8.30pm.

Shortly before the crash, the man was seen by two people who were driving along the road. He appeared to be extremely intoxicated.

He was wearing dark blue jeans, brown jersey, brown oil skin vest, blue beanie and had on a black backpack.

The man was flown to Whangärei Hospital with serious injuries.

Police have not located the vehicle involved and are encouraging the driver to come forward. They would also like anyone with information on incident to contact Kaikohe Police on 09 405 2960 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
