Man arrested after serious assault

A 44-year-old man was this afternoon arrested in relation to the serious assault in Foxton last night.

The assault happened around 10.30pm in Park Road, Foxton, during which an 18-year-old Foxton man suffered serious injuries. He is being treated in Palmerston North Hospital for a number of injuries consistent with being struck with a weapon. He has undergone surgery to his knee and is currently in a stable condition.

This afternoon police, including the Armed Offenders Squad, arrested a 44-year-old man without incident at an address in Foxton Beach. The man who is from Foxton Beach will appear at Levin District Court tomorrow charged with grievous bodily harm.
