The whanau of homicide victim Raymond Piper, also known as 'Son', are devastated that their loved son, brother, partner, father and extended family member has been killed.
In a statement released through police tonight, Mr Piper's family said the advice from police today that Son had died confirmed their worst fears. They plea for the return of Son's body.
"Son's death leaves a huge hole in our lives. He loves us and we love him. He dotes on his three year old son Cayden who misses him dreadfully.
"These last few weeks have been very difficult for us.
"We appreciate the support we continue to have from police, our friends and members of the Paekakariki and Kapiti community.
"It's very hard for us not knowing where Son is. All we ask is that people who have information about Son's death contact the police. We want Son's body so that we can grieve for him, respect him and lay him to rest.
"We ask that you respect our privacy at this time and not contact us."
