Firearms stolen in burglary

Police in Marton are seeking witnesses after a number of firearms were stolen in a burglary.

The incident occurred about 9.45 last night (Tuesday, 21 April) when thieves broke into Rangitïkei Rods and Rifles on Broadway in Marton, activating the store's alarm.

Two pump action shotguns, two rifles and two air rifles were stolen from locked cabinets inside the shop. Two firearms carry bags and a small amount of cash was also missing.

At that time of night it is likely there would have been cars and pedestrians in the area and Police are seeking witnesses to the burglary or information about those responsible and the current whereabouts of the firearms.
