A valuable instrument was taken from a door at the entrance to the Airways Corporation building in Sir William Pickering Drive on Friday 6 January this year. It was in parcel delivered by a courier company between 8.20 and 8.30 am and left at the doorway.
Sergeant Andy McEntee says that the instrument is specific to its purpose in radar and cannot be adapted or used as or with anything else. However it is worth about $100,000.
"Someone probably thought they had an electronic game," he says, "However it is useless for anything other than the job is was made for."
The courier box was later discovered empty 4km away on Shipley's Road.
Sergeant McEntee is appealing for the person who took the parcel to leave it somewhere safe where it can be found. Anyone with any information or who saw the parcel uplifted or the packaging dumped later to contact him, phone 363 7400.
