Youth charged following aggravated robbery

A 17-year-old youth from Whanganui has been charged following an aggravated robbery at a dairy during which a mother and daughter were assaulted.

The incident occurred on Sunday, 21 February between 5.10pm and 5.20pm at the Harper Street dairy. A 28-year-old woman and her 56-year-old mother required hospital treatment for injuries, including facial injuries, after being assaulted during the aggravated robbery of their shop by a group of youths.

The 17-year-old arrested has appeared in Whanganui District Court today on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated injury and will appear again next month.

Police are still seeking others in connection with this robbery and want to hear from anyone who has information about the incident or those involved.
