Christmas Liquor Licenses

A number of special licenses will be issued on Christmas eve night until 3am on Christmas Day.

"Christmas Day is one of only three and a half `sacrosant 'days, per year," says Sergeant Al Lawn, O/C Liquor Licensing, Canterbury.

There have been a number of applications for 'special licenses and all will have a `one way door' condition placed on them. That is if you leave the bar after 1am, you will not be allowed to return or gain access to any other bar. All bars will be closed by 3am. The only exceptions will be those with an entertainment style liquor licenses.

New Year is not regarded as sacrosant and usual Saturday night/ Sunday conditions apply.
