A week ago tonight 39 year-old taxi driver Hiren Mohini went to work but never made it home to his family. He was brutally killed in a frenzied knife attack during an eight minute journey with a passenger between Sky City and View Rd, Mt Eden.

Police investigating his murder have recovered a distinctive blood stained bag [see pic] and have released footage [see attached] of a man they'd like to identify and speak with but, so far, no one has called the homicide team with the vital pieces of information needed to advance the investigation.

"We need to know who the man in the CCTV footage is and we need to know who owned or who used the discarded bag found near where Hiren was killed at about 1.23am last Sunday morning," Detective Senior Sergeant Hywel Jones said.

"There's still a killer on the loose and we want the public's help to ensure he doesn't harm anyone again."

If anyone has any idea who the man pictured is or they recognise the bag with the Dicon Aibi logo, they should call 0800 444 014.

Anonymous informants can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
