Police Commissioner to thank Hurricanes and Lions players

The Commissioner of Police, Howard Broad will present a Certificate of Appreciation to the Wellington Rugby Football Union at Police National Headquarters on Monday, February 8 at 10.30am.

The certificate is to recognise the Hurricanes and Wellington Lions players who assisted NZ Police and Samoan Police with their endorsement of the domestic violence message "Break the Silence End the Violence" while in Samoa last year.

Ten members of the Wellington Lions and Hurricanes rugby teams visited Samoa in November 2009, as part of a personal development training trip.
While there, the players supported the NZAid Pacific Prevention of Domestic Violence Programme (PPDVP), visiting schools and villages to raise awareness about domestic violence.
