At approx 1104hrs on Saturday 14 November a male has entered the Isobar Café which is situated in Finns Bar and Bristo , 7 Chalmers, Hornby. He has gone into the cafes pokie machine room for a short time. In that room was a older male who was playing the pokies. Police would like this person to come forward.
The offender has then come out of the pokie room and approached the main bar area where the female bar manager was. He has then told the female to get a bag and put all the money she had in it. After making this demand, the victim was shown a blade of a knife which the male had up one of his sleeves.
The offender is described as possibly a male Mäori, approximately 5 foot, 5 -8 inches tall and of medium build. He was clean shaven with a light brown skin tonings. It is believed he was aged in his late twenties or early thirties. He was wearing a black cap on his head with sunglasses, a grey
hoodie sweatshirt and what appeared to be jeans.
The offender has exited the bar and left the scene in green coloured Subaru station wagon which was parked next to the café.
Several thousands of dollars were taken. (Amount yet to be confirmed)
Police are investigating a possible link to a drive off petrol theft at Caltex Hornby the previous night (Friday 13 Nov at approximately 8.40pm) involving a similar vehicle and male.
