Police have just recovered the body of a man who with two companions had gone on a fishing trip yesterday.
The three, all fom Timaru, left Tekapo about 11am yesterday for a day fishing. When they did not return a family member went searching for them. Late last night their boat was located semi submerged near the Cass River. A Defense Dept Iroquois searched with night vision equipment for several hours last night but no one was located. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter from Christchurch started at first light this morning and at 7.30am located a body near Motuariki Island. It has been recovered.
There are 18 Land Search and Rescue members and three local boats searching.
