The man found dead in a lift well on a Beach Rd construction site yesterday was 35 year-old Epsom resident, Allister Mark Tewinipi Kauta.
Mr Kauta had been a labourer on the Scene 3 Apartments site, but Police don't believe he died while working. The last reported sighting of him was in the early hours of Sunday August 7, when he was seen by some acquaintances at a private party.
His injuries were consistent with a fall though Police do not know why he fell. It's believed he'd been dead for about four weeks before his body was discovered by workers.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Benefield of Auckland City Crime Squad said the circumstances of Mr Kauta's death were still unexplained and he encouraged anyone who might have information that could help Police, to contact him.
